AutoCAD 2010 :: 2011 Will Not Edit Block Or Xref In Place
Nov 8, 2013
AutoCAD LT:: Unable To Edit Block In-place From Xref File After Bind AutoCAD Civil 3D:: Drawing Land On Site When Xref Or Insert As Block AutoCAD.NET:: Insert Block On Multiple Selected Points. I have been trying that all morning, no luck. The whole XREF file is highlighted when I click on the layer I want. I tried NCOPY but it only allows me to select one line but not all the lines of that layer. I can do that no problem on microstation but not on autocad, can you help please. Select the objects you would like to edit in the reference and press Enter. The objects that you select become the working set. By default, all other objects are locked and faded. Edit the objects in the working set. Click Save Back Changes to Reference. The objects in the working set are saved to the reference and the xref or the block is updated.
We have a block in our title block that is simply composed of two attributes. I have had a couple users have an issue where they cannot select this block with the mouse in any way. The only way I can select it is to use Quick Select, then type the edit command to edit the attributes. The Edit Block or Xref button is active whenever the toolbar is initiated and a reference editing session is not already in progress within the current drawing. The Refedit toolbar is dismissed automatically after changes made to the reference are saved back or discarded.
Untill recently I have been able to edit my blocks or xref files in place. Now when I try do that CAD tells me to select nested item. Is this a setting a changed by mistake? If so what is it?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Edit Xref In-Place
Feb 27, 2012
When saving an AutoCAD drawing there is a Thumbnail image saved (if you have the option turn on), but when the command 'Edit Xref In-Place' is used there is no Thumbnail image saved. So now when I try to preview any drawing that has been edited through this command there is no longer a thumbnail. I am using AutoCAD 2012 and the option to save a thumbnail is turned ON.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Edit Xref In Place - Purge?
Jan 26, 2012
We have about 300+ dwg's on which somebody edited the 'xref in place'. This has caused the particular dwg files to expand from 300k to 4mb. Purging seems to have no effect. Is there any way of reducing the file size on these back to normality?

Drawing are clean, purged, -purged, recovered audited. Computer is new workstation and dedicated to CAD only. Very little opportunity for corrupted files.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Edit Xref-in-place And Points Disappear
Aug 7, 2013
Scenario: 1. You have a base map with survey points inserted. 2. You create a sheet, xref the base map, freeze survey points in base map, insert survey points into sheet so they can be manipulated for visual clarity. Problem: In sheet drawing, using the edit xref-in-place command to edit base map causes the points to want to be reinserted and in a lot of cases, when the sheet drawing is re-opened, the points are completely gone.
AutoCad :: Bind Xref But Also Preserve Xref Links?
Sep 17, 2013
when you bind an xref the link disappears from the xref manager. is it possible to bind an xref, but preserve that link in the xref manager? i realize that will lead to two copies of the same object in the drawing (one xref, plus the new block). everyone's okay with that happening.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Bind Xref Layers To Master Layers
Mar 20, 2012
I am currently updating and coming up with a better system for are plant layout file for AutoCAD. When this project is complete, it will be set up so if someone needs to make a change they can just make a copy of the X-Ref file for the area they will be updating and hand it back in when there done. I will review the updated X-Ref then switch out the old X-Ref file for the updated one. Problem: the problem I am having is when I am in the master drawing that contains all the X-Ref files, the layers list becomes enormous. There are about 30 to 40 different X-Ref files with 15 layers each. Those 15 layers contain the exact same information but you have to edit them individually. Question: Is there a way to make the 15 layers in the master effect the corresponding layer in all the X-ref files? For instance, you hide the “Machines” layer in the master and it hides the “Machines” layer in all the X-ref. Side Note: If you were going to make the suggestion “use Xbind” I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work well because “Xbind” creates a new layer you have to assign to things instead of making the layers relate to one another.

AutoCad :: Use Xref Manager To See Where Actual File For Xref Resides On Computer / Server
Nov 15, 2013
I know that in ACAD you can use the xref manager to see where the actual file for the xref resides on your computer/server/etc. What I'm curious about is whether or not the inverse action is possible. Can you somehow access the file (not the output sheet where it's being xref-ed) and see what other files are using it as an xref? I've come in on a project that is nearing completion and have been assigned the task of 'cleaning up the project folder.' Unfortunately, there are a ton of files in the different folders that are no longer in use on the final output sheets and I need to keep the ones still in use and archive the ones that are no longer needed. What I've been doing is going through those sheets and reviewing the xref manager for each sheet to see which files are actually put onto those sheets and making a physical checklist from which to organize my findings. Once the checklist is made, I then archive all the files that are no longer being used.

Lightroom :: Unexpected End Of File / Unable To Edit Photo
Autocad Selected Xref Block Is Not Editable 2016
Oct 10, 2011
I recently built a new PC dedicated to my photo work. i7 2600k, 16gb DDR 3 ripjaws, 128GB crucial m4 SSD, (2) x 1TB 7200 HDDs (mirrored), Sapphire Radeon HD 5570.The first month or so of use LR worked great. However, recently I have been getting several errors and oddities. 1) Randomly closes. I can restart it without a problem and pick back up where I left off. There are not warnings or signs that it is about to close.. it just does. 2) 'Unexpected end of file'. Unable to edit photo. Preview does show, however. I have never seen this error before on other machines. 3) Memory dumps. I assume this is related to LR3 as that is the only program I am actively using when it happens (Chome is always open as well, however) I will have the dump files examined to know for sure. 4) Something new that just started today. In the preview bar on the bottom, as I scroll through the photos I see the previews of other photos.. some photos from other folders I took weeks or months ago. When I hover over the image it changes to what it should be.1 with a photo from this particular shoot and one from one I did over a month ago. Everything I scroll back and forth (rapidly or not) as the previews load it loads the wrong files first, multiple times (around 8 or 9 in a row) and then they slowly change to what it should be. I am not sure if I am properly describing this error but it is really weird. Also, this seems to only happen on the images off a CF card. I was borrowing a friends D200 as a 2nd body for a party. When I scroll through the images off my SD card I do not see the issue appear. When I get to the CF portion of the folder is when I see the problem..I just updated LR today but these issues occured prior to the update and still exist afterwards. Do I need to do a fresh install of LR?What precautions do I need to take in doing so to insure my catalogue stays intact?
